Description
The Growatt SPE 12000 US is a 12kW split-phase off-grid solar inverter that supplies 120/240V power for homes, cabins, farms and workshops. It combines a pure sine wave inverter, two MPPT solar charge controllers, 48V-class battery support and utility or generator input in one unit. Its 18,000W recommended PV capacity provides room for solar generation to serve loads and charge compatible batteries.

Use the SPE 12000 US as part of a matched solar and battery system for an off-grid home, rural property, cabin or workshop. Its split-phase output supports both 120V and 240V circuits, while generator or utility input can provide an additional power source. Size the connected loads and battery bank to the required continuous power and starting loads.
Installation and system expansion
The IP20 enclosure requires a dry indoor installation protected from rain and moisture. Plan for the -10 to +50 degrees C operating range and maintain the installation clearances specified in the manual.
Parallel operation supports up to nine compatible units and requires connected batteries. The system must use the appropriate parallel configuration, communication connections and electrical protection. A smart-load connection does not add to the inverter's 12kW total output capacity.

Does one SPE 12000 US supply 120/240V power?
Yes. A single unit provides split-phase output with 120V line-to-neutral and 240V line-to-line, within its rated output and load limits.
Can I connect a generator?
Yes. The inverter supports generator input and charging. Confirm generator voltage, frequency, capacity and charging settings for the planned system.
Can it operate without batteries?
The user manual supports operation with or without batteries in supported single-unit configurations. Available power depends on the connected sources. Parallel operation requires batteries, and stored backup energy requires a battery bank.
How much solar can I connect?
The recommended PV capacity is 18,000W total, with up to 9,000W per MPPT. The array must also comply with voltage and current limits, including cold-weather open-circuit voltage. The user manual specifies 27A input and 34A short-circuit current per tracker for the 12kW model.
How does remote monitoring work?
