Canadian Solar 450 W All-Black Panels

The ten Canadian Solar TOPHiKu6 modules provide 4,500 W of combined rated solar capacity. These are monofacial panels that generate power from the front surface. Each 450 W module has a published efficiency of 22.0%, measures 1,800 × 1,134 × 35 mm and weighs 23 kg.

The all-black front and black frame give the array a consistent appearance. Actual energy production varies with location, season, shade, panel orientation and weather. Rated array capacity does not represent continuous production or a guaranteed daily energy yield.

50 mm Hail Stress Testing

Kiwa PVEL report R9661E-2 (17 June 2024) documents 50 mm hail stress testing of two Canadian Solar CS6.1-54TM-450H BOM 1 samples. The retest used ice balls at a nominal 32.4 m/s, delivering 31.5 J at 11 impact locations per module. The samples showed an average 0.50% reduction in maximum power, no reported visual defects, passing electrical circuitry and wet-leakage insulation results meeting the referenced IEC requirements. Results apply to the tested samples and configuration; they do not guarantee protection from every hail event. See the full report in Downloads.

Choose Your Solar Battery

Option 1 — Growatt ALP: Two ALP 5.0L-E2 US modules provide 10.24 kWh nominal capacity and 9.2 kWh usable energy. This two-module configuration has a published maximum continuous DC discharge power of 6 kW and nominal voltage of 51.2 V. The modular design supports wall-mounted or floor installation with the appropriate mounting accessories.

Option 2 — GSL Energy: One GSL051280A-B-GBP2 wall-mounted battery provides 14.34 kWh nominal capacity, with 13.623 kWh recommended discharge energy at 95% depth of discharge. It is rated at 51.2 V / 280 Ah, with 100 A recommended and 150 A maximum charge/discharge current. Its IP20 enclosure is intended for a suitable protected indoor location. The datasheet specifies charging from 0°C to 55°C.

Plan storage and output together: The inverter's 6 kW rating does not guarantee 6 kW of continuous battery-only AC output in every configuration. Battery limits, temperature, state of charge and conversion losses affect the power available to your loads. Both battery datasheets list a 10-year warranty, subject to the applicable manufacturer terms.

Take an active role in your installation by completing suitable preparation and mechanical work where local requirements permit and within your experience. The main components and supplied cable sets help organize the project, while the mounting solution can be selected for your property.

Arrange professional design review and any electrical work, permits or inspections required for your location. The final design must confirm equipment compatibility, PV string layout, cold-weather voltage, conductor sizing, protection, grounding and any required rapid shutdown.
