20kW Hybrid Solar System with 21.6kW Solar & 28.68kWh Battery Storage

The ROCKSOLAR 20kW Hybrid Solar System combines two Growatt SPH10000TL-HU-US hybrid inverters, 36 Philadelphia Solar 600W panels and two GSL 14.34kWh LiFePO₄ batteries. With 21.6kW of solar capacity and 28.68kWh of nominal battery storage, it offers flexible solar power and backup for homes, farms and workshops, subject to a site-specific load assessment.

Split-Phase or Three-Phase Power

The two inverters provide 20kW of combined rated inverter capacity in a 120/240V split-phase installation. Growatt also documents a two-inverter 120/208V three-phase configuration for compatible equipment. Three-phase requires a separate installation design and commissioning; it is not a simple mode switch. Confirm available power on each phase and motor-starting requirements before ordering for three-phase use. The combined inverter rating does not establish 20kW of balanced three-phase capacity.

Solar Power with Shared Battery Storage

Each inverter has three independent MPPT solar inputs. The conceptual layout uses six dedicated PV strings across the pair; final panels per string and protection must be checked against the panel specifications, inverter limits and local temperatures.

The battery layout follows Growatt's documented shared-bank parallel architecture: both GSL batteries feed a common, enclosed DC distribution assembly through individually protected branches, with protected battery feeds to both inverters. The inverters communicate through the included parallel communication cable. The exact GSL battery model, BMS protocol, communication wiring and firmware compatibility must be confirmed before commissioning.

Important: 28.68kWh describes stored energy, not output power. The included two-battery bank should not be represented as providing 20kW of continuous battery-only AC output. Available backup power and runtime depend on battery discharge limits, state of charge, temperature, conversion losses and connected loads. Solar contribution varies with conditions.

Option 1 — Equipment Only: Includes the equipment above. Site-specific electrical balance-of-system components are additional.

Option 2 — Equipment + Electrical BOS: Also includes a site-specific electrical balance-of-system package: battery interconnects, covered common DC busbars/distribution, individual battery branch protection and disconnects, protected inverter battery feeds, compatible module-level rapid shutdown and specified PV wiring. Final component ratings and quantities must follow the approved installation design.

Installation Planning

The gallery diagram is a conceptual overview, not an installation drawing. Utility GRID connections and backed-up LOAD connections must remain distinct and follow Growatt's wiring arrangement. Final design must address AC protection, battery and PV protection, grounding, rapid shutdown, applicable permits and utility requirements. Refer to the equipment manuals and a qualified electrical professional before installation.
