The Growatt SPF 3500TL LVM-US is a 3.5kW off-grid solar inverter and charger with pure sine wave output, a built-in MPPT solar charge controller and a 48V battery connection. Designed for 120V off-grid power systems, it combines solar charging, battery power and an AC input for utility or generator support in one unit.

Off-grid power for cabins, cottages and workshops
Build a solar power system for 120V loads with a matched PV array and compatible 48V battery storage. Select loads by their combined running power and startup requirements, and keep the installation within the inverter's continuous and surge ratings. A generator or utility AC source can provide additional support through the AC input.
Installation and parallel expansion
The IP20 / NEMA Type 1 enclosure is intended for a dry indoor installation. Plan for the specified 0 to +50 degrees C operating range when choosing a location, particularly in an unheated Canadian cottage or outbuilding.
A single inverter provides 120V-class output. The datasheet illustrates a split-phase parallel application using multiple units; a 120/240V system requires a compatible multi-inverter configuration and the appropriate parallel equipment. Confirm the design and required accessories before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
Can the SPF 3500TL LVM-US operate without a battery?
Yes. Growatt's datasheet states that the inverter can work with or without a battery. Battery-free operation must follow the supported configuration and depends on the available power sources; it does not provide stored energy for use when those sources are unavailable.
Can I connect a generator?
Yes. The datasheet supports a generator connection through the 120V AC input. Confirm generator voltage, frequency and capacity against the inverter and charging requirements.
Does one inverter provide 240V output?
No. One unit provides 100V / 110V / 120V AC output in battery mode. Split-phase applications require multiple compatible inverters configured according to Growatt's installation instructions.
How many solar panels can I connect?
The inverter supports a maximum 4,500W PV array, a 120-225V DC MPPT operating range and a maximum 280V DC open-circuit voltage. Have the array strings checked against these limits, including open-circuit voltage in cold weather.
Is remote monitoring included?
Yes.
