Quebec Solar Incentives for Homeowners

Residential Solar Panel Design & Installation in Quebec

A successful residential solar project begins with thoughtful system design based on your household’s electricity use, available roof or ground space, budget, and future energy goals. Rocksolar helps Quebec homeowners choose suitable solar panels, inverters, battery storage, and other compatible system components.

For installation, homeowners can work with a qualified local solar installer or licensed electrician in Quebec. Your installer can complete the site assessment, permitting, electrical work, utility connection, inspections, and final commissioning while Rocksolar supports you with product information and equipment guidance.

Key Components of a Solar Project

Rooftop Solar Panels

Rooftop Solar Panels

Rooftop solar panels capture sunlight and convert it into clean electricity for your home. Choosing the right panel size, efficiency, and system capacity helps maximize available roof space, support your household’s energy needs, and meet applicable rebate or utility requirements.

Ground-Mount Solar

Ground-Mount Solar

Ground-mounted solar systems are a practical option for properties with limited roof space, shading, or unsuitable roof conditions. Panels can be positioned for better sunlight exposure and easier maintenance, making them well suited for larger residential, rural, and acreage properties.

Solar Batteries

Solar Batteries

Solar batteries store energy for later use. Backup capability depends on the inverter and system design. Battery storage is optional; confirm any eligible costs directly with Hydro-Québec.

Utility Smart Meter

Utility Smart Meter

A utility smart meter tracks the electricity your home draws from the grid and the excess solar energy your system sends back. For eligible grid-connected projects, it supports accurate energy monitoring, billing, and net-metering credits through your local utility.

Why Homeowners Choose Solar Energy

Solar energy gives Quebec homeowners greater control over their electricity use while supporting long-term savings and a cleaner energy future. With the right solar panels and battery storage system, homeowners can reduce their reliance on the grid, prepare for power outages, and take advantage of available solar incentives.

Compare the product and performance warranties for the specific solar panels you choose. Warranty terms depend on the manufacturer and model.

Generate clean electricity at home and reduce the amount of energy you need to purchase from the utility grid.

Producing your own solar power can help reduce the impact of future electricity rate increases and provide more predictable energy expenses.

Backup power requires compatible batteries, an inverter and equipment designed for safe operation during outages. A standard grid-connected solar system shuts down when the grid loses power.

Send surplus power back to the grid and earn credits that further offset your energy expenses.

Solar panels and battery storage can make your property more energy-efficient and appealing to homeowners looking for lower operating costs and sustainable features.

Quebec Solar Incentives FAQ

What solar grant is available in Quebec?

LogisVert provides $1,000 per installed kW, with assistance limited to 40% of eligible solar purchase and installation costs. All program conditions must be met.

How do I apply for a Quebec solar grant?

Arrange approved grid connection and qualified installation, retain the required project documents, and apply through the LogisVert portal within nine months of installation. The portal is available in French.

Which homes and panels can qualify?

Eligible property types include houses, multiplexes and residential buildings with up to 19 units. Panels must be new, meet the required certifications, satisfy Quebec retailer requirements and have been installed on or after June 30, 2025. Check the official rules for your project.

How is the grant calculated?

For an illustrative 5 kW project with $15,000 in eligible costs, the kW amount is $5,000 and the 40% cost limit is $6,000, so the estimated grant is $5,000. Approval and final eligible costs are determined by Hydro-Québec.

Who should install the system?

Use an appropriately licensed Quebec contractor and qualified electrical professional. The grid-connection application must be made by a master electrician. Confirm RBQ licences and utility requirements before work begins.

Can Rocksolar help me select equipment?

Rocksolar can help compare system components and supply available product information. Have your installer verify the exact panel model, certification documents and retailer requirements before purchasing for LogisVert.

Are batteries and off-grid systems covered?

The solar measure requires an approved grid connection. Do not assume a standalone off-grid kit or battery purchase qualifies. Confirm the eligible scope and costs with Hydro-Québec before ordering.

Can I receive credits for surplus solar energy?

Eligible grid-connected self-generation systems can receive energy credits through Hydro-Québec’s Net Metering Option. Review the utility’s current connection and billing rules when planning your system.
