What is included in this 11.4kW grid-tied solar kit?
The package includes a Growatt MIN 11400TL-XH-US inverter, thirty Canadian Solar 450W panels, thirty Tigo TS4-A-F rapid-shutdown devices, three 100ft 10 AWG PV cable sets and a Wi-Fi module. Batteries, backup equipment, mounting and installation are not included.
Why pair 13.5kW of solar panels with a 11.4kW inverter?
Solar panels rarely produce their full rated power throughout the day. The larger array helps the inverter produce more energy in weaker sunlight, making better use of the 11.4kW inverter. During strong sunshine, output can reach the inverter's limit; any excess available solar power is then limited rather than increasing its AC rating.
Will this kit reduce my electricity bill?
It can reduce the electricity you buy by supplying solar energy while your home is using power. Savings depend on your roof, sunlight, electricity use and utility rates. Ask ROCKSOLAR for a site-specific estimate rather than relying on a fixed savings promise.
Will it power my home during a blackout?
Not as supplied. This grid-tied package stops supplying power when the grid fails. Outage backup requires compatible batteries and the correct backup switching equipment, sold separately.
Can I add batteries later?
Yes. The MIN inverter is battery-ready for approved high-voltage storage systems. Ask ROCKSOLAR to match the battery and any backup equipment to your exact inverter version. Ordinary 48V batteries are not a direct substitute.
Can I expand the system later?
Yes. You can add compatible solar panels to generate more energy or compatible battery storage to use more solar energy after sunset. Solar expansion must stay within the inverter's voltage, current and power limits. If you need more AC output, ask ROCKSOLAR to design a suitable upgrade.
How should the thirty panels be connected?
The proposed layout is three strings of ten panels connected in series, with each string connected to a separate MPPT and the fourth MPPT unused. Growatt confirmation of panel-current compatibility is still needed. Final installation still requires the site-specific cold-voltage and inverter input-current checks.
Is panel-to-inverter compatibility fully confirmed?
One detail remains to be confirmed: the panel datasheet lists 13.66A operating current, while the supplied inverter sheet lists 13.5A per MPPT. Ask ROCKSOLAR for confirmation of the supplied inverter revision and Growatt-approved pairing before ordering. A different series-string length does not reduce panel current.
Are these Canadian Solar panels bifacial?
No. This kit uses Canadian Solar TOPHiKu6 All-Black CS6.1-54TM-450H panels with a polymer backsheet. Thirty panels provide 13,500W of rated solar capacity without a rear-side power bonus.
Are the panels suitable for Canadian weather?
The panels are designed for demanding outdoor conditions, with a -40°C to +85°C operating range. The stated snow and wind load ratings depend on the manufacturer's mounting requirements. Snow cover and shorter winter days reduce production, and your roof and racking must suit local conditions.
Does rapid shutdown come with the kit?
Yes. Thirty Tigo TS4-A-F rapid-shutdown devices are included. The package is intended to use the Growatt inverter's integrated compatible transmitter, without a separate transmitter. Confirm the supplied inverter has this transmitter option fitted. These devices provide rapid shutdown, not panel-level optimization.
Can I send excess electricity to the grid?
Where your utility approves it, surplus solar electricity may be exported under its available program. Approval, metering arrangements and credit rules depend on your location. This kit does not guarantee net-metering acceptance or incentive eligibility.
Does the inverter work with 208V and 240V service?
The supplied datasheet lists both. Rated grid output is 11.4kW at 240V or 9.88kW at 208V. Your installer must confirm the service voltage and utility requirements; this is not a standalone three-phase power supply.
How much roof space is needed?
Each panel is approximately 1.8m by 1.134m. Thirty panels cover about 61.2 square metres and weigh 690kg before racking. Allow additional space for gaps, access and setbacks, and have the roof structure checked.
Is Wi-Fi monitoring included?
Yes. A Wi-Fi module is listed in this ROCKSOLAR package. Confirm internet coverage and the module setup requirements at your installation location.
Can I install this solar kit myself?
You can plan the project and do work you are qualified and permitted to perform. Electrical connections, grid interconnection and inspections must meet local and utility requirements. Arrange the necessary qualified installation and approvals before energizing the system.
What equipment is needed for automatic backup switching?
The MIN inverter needs compatible batteries and the backup switching equipment specified for its exact version. The supplied datasheet identifies ATS-US for V2 partial-home backup and SYN200-US for V3 whole-home backup arrangements. These are not included. Ask ROCKSOLAR to match the equipment and backup circuits before purchase.
