1200W Solar Power with a 3kW Off-Grid Inverter

Build a practical solar power system for a cabin, tiny home or selected 120V loads with the ROCKSOLAR 24V 3kW Off-Grid Solar Kit. The package combines one SRNE HF2430U60-100 pure sine wave inverter, two Philadelphia Solar 600W bifacial panels and one 20-ft 10 AWG PV cable.

A compatible 24V battery is required for the battery-backed system shown and is sold separately. This is an equipment package, not a complete installed system. Battery cables, protection, mounting and other installation materials must be specified for your site.

What Can It Power?

Suitable loads may include lights, electronics, refrigeration and selected small appliances. Check combined running power and starting surges against both inverter and battery limits. The 3kW rating is inverter capacity, not solar production: the included array is rated at 1.2kW, and actual production varies with sunlight, season, shading and installation.

This inverter supplies 120V AC only; the package does not provide 120/240V split-phase or three-phase output. It is an off-grid inverter, not a grid-export or net-metering system. A compatible AC source can support charging and bypass operation through the specified AC input.

Philadelphia Solar 600W Bifacial Panels

The included N-type half-cell panels can collect reflected light from the rear when mounting clearance and ground conditions allow. Rear-side gains are installation-dependent and are not included in the 1200W front-side rating. Each panel measures approximately 2278 × 1134 × 30mm and weighs approximately 27kg; check available space and mounting loads before choosing an RV or roof installation.

The panel datasheet specifies a 12-year product warranty and 30-year linear power warranty, subject to manufacturer terms. Confirm the inverter warranty applicable to the supplied unit before purchase.

Battery and Installation Planning

Choose a compatible 24V battery with sufficient continuous and surge discharge capability for your loads. Battery capacity determines runtime; voltage alone does not establish suitability. Charging settings must match the battery manufacturer's requirements.

PV layout: the conceptual design uses the two 600W panels in parallel. Do not connect this pair in series without an approved voltage calculation: their combined open-circuit voltage can exceed the inverter's 108V ceiling in cold weather. Final design must check temperature-corrected voltage, bifacial current, connectors, conductor sizing, voltage drop, protection and any required rapid shutdown.

The SRNE inverter is IP20 and intended for a dry indoor installation with ventilation. Panels can generate in Canadian winter conditions, but snow cover and shorter days reduce production. Protect the battery from temperatures outside its operating and charging limits.
